Remote Clipboard is run by ElementX. This page explains what the app and the rclip command-line tool store, why, and for how long. We keep as little as we can, and most of it deletes itself.
Text and files you add to a room are stored so that the room's members can see them. They are deleted when the room expires, which is 5 minutes to 7 days after it was created. They are deleted earlier when someone removes them, or when any member ends the room, which deletes the room and everything in it straight away.
Anyone with the link to a public room can read it. Room content is encrypted in transit and at rest. Use a private room for anything sensitive.
You only need an email address to create or open private rooms. We use it to:
Signing in gives your browser a cookie, or rclip a token, that holds your email address and lasts 30 days. It is stored on your device, not by us. Signing out removes it.
We set one cookie, rc_session, and only when you sign in. Your browser also remembers your light or dark mode choice, and the rooms you created or opened recently, until each room expires. These stay on your device. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Like any website, our servers see your IP address and browser details when you connect. We use IP addresses to limit how often rooms can be created, joined and uploaded to, and to limit sign-in attempts. Our hosting provider keeps request logs for a short time to run and protect the service.
Remote Clipboard runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the app, stores rooms and files, and sends sign-in emails. Data may be processed in any country where Cloudflare operates. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
You can remove text and files from a room, or end the room to delete everything in it, at any time. Everything else expires on its own. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted sooner, email support@remoteclipboard.com.
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
